School Mission

School Mission

The Laurel community, including teachers, staff, and parents, are committed to providing students an educational program of academic excellence, increasing student learning to enable students to become responsible, well-educated successful adults. Proficiency scores on the California Standardized Test — SBAC, the ELPAC (English Language Proficiency Assessments For California), and District and classroom assessments — will measure the success of student learning. We believe that the best strategy to accomplish our school mission is to continue to prepare students with 21st Century skills to become successful and lifelong learners. Laurel will utilize the 5 C's to help the student become life-long learners. Laurel will focus on the three LCAP goals of Conditions of Learning, Student Achievement, and Engagement when determining the program for improvement. Laurel is a learning organization where all stakeholders actively learn about and contribute to the growing body of knowledge about what works and what is best for our students.

We, the staff at Laurel Elementary, are committed to creating a school that gives every student:

  • a safe, nurturing environment in which to learn.
  • the opportunity to develop their character through Lion Pride Expectations, which will create an environment that fosters community.
  • a quality education that creates a foundation to develop as lifelong learners who can incorporate the Five C's and continue to become productive members of society.
